Sometimes I am reminded why I love pallets and why I wrote a book about building with pallets (which you can buy HERE). This farmhouse table is a perfect example of what you can create with simple pallet wood!
Happy Sunday! On our recent trip to the Redwoods I was fascinated by the huge root bases of the toppled trees. They were massive, but sadly they do not grow very deep--only 5 to 6 feet. The shallow root system is one of the main reasons these giants topple in adverse conditions. Many of us are like the redwood trees. We may have a great looking life, we look like we are successfully growing and thriving because we say and do the right things. But, when life gets tough, when our faith is tested--we suffer and fail because we have not been rooted in Christ. Friends, we can appear to the world that we have it all together, but if we have not built our faith on Jesus, we will fall. Spend time in his Word, talk to God, build deep roots of faith so that you will stand strong when you need to.
Happy Sunday! Balance: an even distribution, a condition where different elements are equal. We know we need to have balance in our lives, but at times it seems elusive. The best way I know to find balance is by asking and allowing Jesus to be in the middle of everything--yep, all of it. We need to ask God to work out our schedules and how we use our time, to be in the middle of our lifestyle and health choices, to be the center of our relationships--to be in it ALL. It doesn't have to be pretty and it doesn't have to be P.C. and perfect to let God IN it. When we ask and let Jesus be the center, everything else falls into place.
"Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see."--Linus from The Great Pumpkin Well, I am not sure how sincere my pumpkin patch is (it is growing rather wildly though), but this big, barnwood pumpkin certainly is great!
Happy Sunday! My "baby" girl was sick last week, sicker than I think I have ever seen her. As she fought her fever and slept, my independent teen wanted mom nearby. She wanted to know I was there, even if she was asleep. My presence comforted her. God does the same thing for us, whether we ask for it or not. His calming reassurance is always present, always available, always here to give us rest and peace of mind. Today--rest, knowing that God is ever-present in your life.
